Dear Neighbor,
My name is Zion Halili and I am the newly elected
President of the Hollis Hills Civic Association. I have been residing in this wonderful
community since 1986 along with my wife, Dvora and my three wonderful children Daniel
(33), Natalie (17) and Netanel (15). I established a Real Estate Holding and
Investment company in 1983 which I own and operate to this day. I have been a member of the Civic Association
since 1986. For the past 10 years, I
have been a member of Community Board 11 representing Hollis Hills.
When
I moved into the neighborhood, the Hollis Hills Civic Association was
dormant. I initiated the revitalization
of the Association with the help of two extremely dedicated residents, Mr. Sal Diliberto and Mr. Steve Pivawer. Since then, I have been actively involved in
the planning and implementing of endless activities and functions as well as
chairing different committees.
I
would like to express my deep thanks for our outgoing President, Dennis Novick,
for his years of dedication and service to the community. He was effortless in introducing numerous
improvements to our neighborhood and took under his wing the issue of the
rezoning of Hollis Hills. I am looking
forward to his continued involvement, especially in bringing the rezoning
question to a conclusion whereas community residents will render the final
decision on whether or not their area should be rezoned.
My
mission for the next 3 years is to increase membership, to stop illegal
construction of homes, to prohibit any construction work during weekends and
holidays, to plan more community activities involving the religious
institutions in our area and continue to beautify the landscape of Hollis
Hills. I am aiming to strengthen our
relationship with the respective district representatives and Police Precinct #
111 in order to further protect and ensure that all city services our community
is entitled to such as sewer and street cleaning, snow and rubbish removal and
tree pruning are uninterrupted and performed regularly and in a timely fashion.
Below you will find the mission statement of the
Hollis Hills Civic Association (HHCA), however it only
scratches the surface of who we are and what we are trying to accomplish. As the new President of the HHCA I invite you
to join us your friends and neighbors, as we begin a new era in civic
activism. The current association’s
membership offers a unique mix of individuals who work hard to fuse differing
ideas into neighborhood symmetry. Our goals are modest, but our scope is as
diverse as our members. We remain committed in our goal to strike an equal
balance between quality of life and city living.
The Hollis Hills Civic Association knows that by
making a sustained investment in our community, we will undoubtedly continue to
make great strides to ensure Hollis Hills is a better place to live, work, and
raise a family. Our core priorities center around
enrollment and involvement, it is these two issues that will without a doubt be
the keys to our success. We continually strive to attract new members, and to
stimulate current members into becoming more active.
If anyone is interested in helping serve on the
Hollis Hills Civic Association Board or would like to contribute in any way,
please contact me through the HHCA website.
We have invested time and resources in setting up a very creative
website, HollisHillsCivic.com, and invite you to visit periodically for up to
date information on upcoming events, activities and news. Although the website is still in its infancy,
I strongly urge you to view it regularly for current information concerning our
community because my ultimate goal is to manage all activities and affairs
through the site and eliminate the high cost of printed material and mailings.
You may also contact me with any suggestions, recommendations and concerns via
email through the website.
There is advertising space available in our
Newsletter and Website so please contact me if you have any interest.
Best wishes for a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Sincerely,
President
